A classical ketogenic diet, also known as long-chain triglyceride diet, consumes 1 gram of carbohydrates and proteins in the ratio of 3 to 4 grams of fat. So, about 90% of the energy is derived from fat.

This diet uses the same amount of energy as it is used in other diets. For example, if someone is taking 1800 calories in their daily diet, the same amount of calories is also to be taken in the ketogenic diet.
